Mr. Ernest Yerekuu was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Opportunity International Savings and Loans Ltd. (OISL) on October 1, 2025. He is a seasoned financial services executive with over two decades of experience in retail banking, treasury management, risk management, fund management, and strategic leadership.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Yerekuu served as Chief Operating Officer of OISL, where he oversaw banking operations, branch expansion and digital transformation. During his tenure, he led major initiatives including the seamless migration of the core banking software to T24 R23, the introduction of the digital loan origination solution and the implementation of the Opportunity Mobile solution, which together enhance digital access to financial services nationwide.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Yerekuu was the General Manager of Cyrano Management Ghana, a subsidiary of Cyrano Management SA, a fund management company specializing in microfinance investment vehicles for Social Banks (SBs) and microfinance institutions (MFIs) worldwide. In this role, he managed investor relations, portfolio oversight, and risk monitoring for international funds investing in MSME-focused Banks across Africa. This experience provided him with extensive exposure to global capital markets, cross-border fund management, and international best practices in financial inclusion. It also enabled him to build strong networks with global investors, development finance institutions, and impact-driven organizations.
Ernest has a proven track record of driving institutional growth, strengthening governance and risk management frameworks, and developing innovative financial solutions tailored to the needs of micro, small, and medium enterprises. His leadership is anchored in operational excellence, strategy execution, and a deep commitment to advancing financial inclusion in Ghana.
Ernest holds an MSc. in Climate Change and Sustainable Development, an MSc. in Development Finance, and a BSc. in Banking and Finance. He has also participated in various international executive trainings and conferences in strategic management, risk governance, financial inclusion, and digital banking transformation, equipping him with global insights and practices that complement his academic qualifications.
As Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Ernest Yerekuu is focused on consolidating OISL’s position as a market leader in Micro and SME financing in Ghana, ensuring strong financial performance, sound corporate governance, and long-term value creation for clients, stakeholders, and the wider community.
